Training Camp Germany 2012 - A perfect Sport Holiday- suitable for Intermediate Sprint/Olympic and Ironman 70.3/Ironman

Get a head start on your race-ready training phase in June by biking and swimming outdoors. SplashnDash will be holding a 10-day Triathlon Training Camp in Southern Germany from the 7th to the 16th of June 2012. After their training at a Triathlon Europe Training Camp in the French Alps with Spencer Smith & Fiona Ford and, after such a poor Newfoundland summer weather-wise, our coaching staff is ready to offer you a spring training experience you'll never forget!! Sun & warmth while biking along the Rhine River and up the mountain slopes in the Black Forest, climbing and descending 10% plus hills, swimming in pristine-clear baggersees, and running at midnight in a torch-lit 7.77 km race! These workouts will be take place in historic sites such as Heidelberg, Baden, & Strasbourg (France). This training camp is ideal to prepare you for any hilly Ironman or any of your local Triathlons.

2012 S&D Training Camp, Black Forest, Germany
Date: June 7 – June 16th, 2012
What’s included:
- 10 days of structured training camp, fully supported with certified triathlon coaches and a local biking guide.
(Nobody gets left behind!)
- A maximum of 8 participants under the watchful eye of three coaches
- Biking in the Black Forest, climbing and descending 10% plus hills in three separate pace groups
- 2 - 3 structured workouts/day except for recommended rest days
- 10 days and 10 nights accommodations in shared accomodations (3 or 4 people/house) in a local park featuring on-site restaurant, grocery store and laundry facilities.
- Language support and an inside look at the life style and festivities in the historic Black Forest
- Train ride (with bike) to the historic Town of Heidelberg
- Support vehicle for the mountain bike ride
- Rest day activity: a facilitated shopping trip to a large European sports supply store (Decathlon) as well as other stores
in the famous town of Baden-Baden as time permits
- Race day: transportation to Bischweier for the Midnight Torch Run
What will you need:
- Valid Passport
- Medical and Accident Insurance
- Registration for the road race (we can help facilitate the registration process)

- Bike and bike accessories
- Running, swimming, biking clothes and accessories (including wetsuit)
- Daypack
Itinerary:
- Thursday, June 7th, arrival in Germany via Frankfurt (~150km) or Stuttgart (~120km) airport. Athlete pick up can be arranged through air-port shuttle service or rental car. ( we can help with group bookings) Build bikes, or opt for full service/assembly (10E). Local bike rental can also be facilitated.
- Friday, June 8th, welcome run along the Rhine River (Germany), welcome bike to the old town of Bühl, welcome swim at local crystal clear baggersee, visit to the Sports Complex in Greffern.
- Saturday, June 9th, Daytrip to Heidelberg via train (take bike on the train). Spend the morning either visiting the famous Castle of Heidelberg or the markets in the town square of this old university town. Return by bike (80+km) to training camp through the back-roads and mountainside of the Black Forest. Spend the evening at a local Biergarten.
- Sunday, June 10th, Morning rest, coached pace swim session (~2200m), stretching session followed by long run (16km+) to local spots of interest.
- Monday, June 11th, Long Bike Ride 100 km+, Leave Greffern to head north along the flat and fast roads of the Rhine River, cross the Rhine into France follow the river south into Strasbourg for a late afternoon break (French style). Cross the border in Kehl and finish up at the “Anker Biergarten” in Freistett.
- Tuesday, June 12th, Tempo run session, coached technique/drills, stretching session, Bike maintenance in preparation for Endurance Mountain Ride.
- Wednesday, June 13th, Fully supported endurance mountain ride to the Mummelsee and Mehliskopf mountains, climbing and descending 10% plus hills into the Black Forest (60km+), easy swim in the late afternoon.
- Thursday, June 14th, Rest day – shopping and site seeing trip, Coached pace swim session (~2200m) in the late afternoon.
- Friday, June 15th, Technical bike handling session, transition training session, multi-bricks and deep water starts, stretching session
- Saturday, June 16th Light morning run and stretching session, 7.77km Midnight run road race in the old town of Bischweier
- Sunday, June 17th, Departure Day via Frankfurt (~150km) or Stuttgart(~120km) airport. Athlete drop- off up can be arranged through air-port shuttle service.(we can help with group bookings)
Cost: $1200/person – Deposit of $400/person required at registration. Remainder due 1st May 2012. (Paypal fees apply)

CULTURE, ENTERTAINMENT AND LIFESTYLE – IT’S ALL NEARBY! If you look to the east, you’ll see the wonderful panorama of the northern Black Forest. The world-famous health resort of Baden-Baden is just 15 km away at the foot of the mountains.The Black Forest High Street, which is lined with interesting destinations, starts in the town.The Baden Wine Road also has a lot to offer. Here, you’ll encounter fine wines as well as various tasty Baden delicacies.

The health resort of Baden-Baden is always worth a visit – from the Roman ruins and relaxing thermal springs to the exclusive shopping opportunities and of course the world-famous casino. A trip to this region of Germany isn't complete without visiting this glamorous city.
STRASBOURG
The French city of Strasbourg is 40 km away.
The impressive cathedral, which attracts millions of visitors each year,
is located at the heart of the city’s historical Old Town. If you think of Strasbourg, the first thing that springs to mind is the world-famous cathedral. But this monumental building is not the only sight in the city, not by far. The picturesque Old Town, numerous museums and of course the European Parliament are always popular destinations.
DESTINATIONS IN THE NORTHERN BLACK FOREST
The northern Black Forest plays host to impressive overwhelming wonders of nature that can be best experienced by bike. Destinations
such as the Mummelsee, the Mehliskopf mountain with its summer toboggan run and the breathtaking climbing park make these tours
an unforgettable experience.
